Canonical claim: Under Queensland's current Work Health and Safety Act 2011 s 34C, a person conducting a business or undertaking commits industrial manslaughter if an individual to whom the person has a health and safety duty dies, or is injured and later dies, the person's conduct causes the death, and the person is negligent about causing the death by the conduct. The maximum penalty is 20 years imprisonment for an individual or 100,000 penalty units for a body corporate.
